It was just business. And then she got pregnant…
Anna Langford is ready to be CEO of the family business, but her brother won't give up control. When she sees the opportunity for a major deal, she goes for it, even though it means working with Jacob Lin, her brother's former best friend, the guy she's never quite gotten over—the man her brother now despises. A successful venture capitalist, Jacob makes ruthless moves. And Anna has given him the perfect chance to take revenge on her brother…
What starts as business turns into romance—until Anna learns of Jacob's motives. And an unplanned pregnancy presents them both with the greatest challenge they've ever faced.
My Take!
Let me start by saying that I was hooked within the first few pages. It is very well written and never did I have those moments where I want to tell the character to shut the hell up. You know when they seem to go on and on.... and on....and on..zzzzzzz. Yea that NEVER happened in this book. Jacob and Anna are like a modern day Romeo and Juliet, families hating each other making it near impossible for the star crossed lovers to finally be together.
So just a quick run down. Jacob was best friends with Anna's brother Adam. She had a major crush on Jacob and when she tried to kiss him one day, he says no. Years later after Jacob and Adam had a terrible bff breakup, Anna finds herself needing to meet with Jacob (former crush gone bad) to discuss a business venture that he is involved with that could save the family business, and she knows her brother will hit the roof if he finds out. There is a lot of sneaking around, to keep the their business/affair secret, until one day it all comes crashing down. Anna later finds herself pregnant and alone. Jacob risks everything to show how much he loves her and the baby by going to her brother Adam about someone outside their little triangle who is plotting against the business. Now I am leaving a lot out here so that I don't spoil it for anyone. BUT this is one of those books I could not put down. I wanted to know what was going to happen next.
Karen Booth actually sent me this book before she knew I was starting this blog and has no idea I am writing about it. However I can tell you this is truly a great read.
I would definitely give this book 4 1/2 out of 5 stars!
