Ruthless: A Mafia Step-Brother Romance by Alexis Abbott

All I have to do is spy on Dimitri Brokov. The Dimitri Brokov. Billionaire, CEO, Russian Mobster, and my step-brother. 

I can have it all. A fling with the hot, tattooed and totally off-limits jerk, half a million dollars and, best of all, the sweet taste of revenge to mend my broken heart. 

Spying on Dimitri might just get me killed, but every time anger flickers into his eyes, I move a little closer. Every time he touches me, I get a little hotter. 

I'm supposed to be in control, but I keep going back for more. His hands on me are addictive, the danger he's in thrills me. And when he ties me to his bed so I can't run, we share more than a night of passion; we share a purpose. A mission. One that threatens everything we thought we knew.

My Take!

This is a dark take on the whole Stepbrother romance thing.  Now that isn't to say that I wasn't sucked in, because I was. Maybe it was the unknown or maybe the things that the writer was asking me to believe.  Sarah's father died when she was a teenager and then her Step-mother kicked her out at 18.  She lost everything including  Dimitri her stepbrother, the person she thought would come and rescue her from her homeless fate. She realizes that he is into something bad when finds out, Dimitri is in with Slava somehow.  Sarah finds herself battling her emotions between the Dimitri that makes her panties wet every time he walks into a room and the brute that she knows he can be. However, although she should be scared she finds herself drawn into the middle of it all by her own reckless actions.  

OK, so now that I have given you a little insight without any major spoilers, let me say this.  I wanted to keep reading this, even though some of the events (for me) were unbelievable.  Sarah seems to be a strong willed girl, but goes to see her Stepmother after she took everything away from her and agrees to spies on her stepbrother without even second guessing as to why?!?  BUT Dimitri surprised me and even though he is a hard ass he still has a soft spot for Sarah.
There is some crazy hot and sometimes really rough sex! But in the end it's kind of a fairy tale ending in a scary Russian Mafia kind of way.  

I would still put this as a 3 out of 5 stars.
