Bengal's Quest by Lora Leigh

Bengal's Quest

He was a shadow, ever shifting and insinuating, able to blend in everywhere and anywhere. The elusive ideal conceived and created by the Genetics Council, he went by just as many names as he had identities—the last one being Gideon.

Now calling himself Graeme, he hides in plain sight, terrifyingly close to his goal. A rogue Bengal Breed, he has loyalties to no one but himself. And he has a need for vengeance that surges hot and swift through his veins.

Graeme plans to exact an extreme and ruthless vendetta against those who wronged him—Breed and human alike. All will suffer his wrath: those who created him, those who pretended to love him, and those who betrayed him.

That includes the one at the center of it all: a seductive, enigmatic woman helpless against the man whose desire is just as desperate as his need to destroy.
And he’s on her scent…

MY TAKE:
First off, let me tell you Lora Leigh is one of  my absolute favorite authors. The content of her books and the characters pulled me in straight away and kept me enthralled each and every turn of the page.

This is a story about the "breeds". They started as genetic experiments, hidden from society in underground labs, created by scientists employed by the Genetic Council, who's goal was to create the ultimate soldier. Someone faster, stronger, emotionally cut off from the feelings of others of themselves, with keener hearing, eyesight, stealth like large cats, wolves, coyotes, apes, etc. Their DNA was spliced to create what the council hoped was a detached, emotionless, killer from innocent women, mothers, stolen, brutally experimented on, their eggs spliced and returned to the womb, to deliver a baby they carried, harbored, kept safe, until they delivered and were forced to give up, to never see again, to never know what happened to the lives they added to this world unwillingly, but bonded to, only a way a mother can bond with an unborn child. But little did the council and scientist know, even animal DNR has a sense of bonding, sense of survival, sense of longing to be, to live a life they didn't ask for, but to adapt and just be free. The characters will have you rooting for them, laughing with them, frowning, and you'll feel your heart hurt for them. You'll loose a lot of sleep, and find yourself planted someplace comfortable, completely taken in their story, forgetting the outside world as you keep your eyes glued to the pages till the end, and then only wanting more.

The breeds find the ultimate salvation, the ultimate feeling of acceptance, the one thing that makes life so complete that it can override all the bad life has to offer. One thing, in all the world, that means more than anything, and gives them the ultimate in humanity, is their life mate, human women who show what true compassion, true love, in good times and bad, make us who we are, what we are, and makes us all strive to be better. Once they find their life mate, and the "Mating Heat" or Frenzy" begins, hold onto your seats because you'll be transformed into the hottest, wildest, panty ripping, only in our dreams scenes of hot, no holds bar, twisting in your seat mating and you'll wish you could meet a breed yourself.

Now, this book is actually the last one in the series so far (#30), and although you can ready all of these as stand alones, I HIGHLY recommend you read these in order to get to know how and why they come to be, plus see how they got their start, who they are, and what made them into the men and women they are as they progress through this world they were made into. Below is a list of "The Breeds" books in order. Most books are 200 plus pages long and will keep you riveted and looking forward to the next one.  I would rate these books on an individual basis from 4-4.5 stars but as a series to me there 5 stars as a whole.
